PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team is set for another weekend of competition just a short trip away at Temple's quad meet on Sunday.
MEET AT A GLANCE
The quad meet will pit the Quakers against Ithaca and Ursinus, as well as the host Owls. The first rotation is set for 3 p.m.
LATEST FORM
Last week at Yale, Penn fell to the Bulldogs in a dual meet, 193.775-192.350, but a number of Quakers came through with impressive performances. Two Penn freshmen gymnasts delighted the judges to earn scores of 9.825 on the afternoon, the top scores on the team. Natalie Yang's beam routine and Sydney Kraez's vault were career highs and Kraez's score matched the third-best in program history. Jordyn Mannino garnered a 9.800 on floor while Allison Frommer finished with a 9.775 on bars and Nicole Swirbalus received a 9.725 on beam for Penn's top-five scores of the day.
COACHES CHOICE
Behind her 9.800 on floor and 9.675 on bars – an event she competed in only twice last year – Mannino earned the ECAC Coaches Choice Award this week. The honor was Mannino's first ECAC award of her career.
UPCOMING HOME STAND
Following this weekend at Temple, Penn will compete at The Palestra for the next four weekends, beginning with a quad meet on Sunday, Feb. 3. Brown, Cornell and Ursinus will descend upon University City for the Quakers' home opener. First rotation is set for 1 p.m.
