Previewing Villanova
Friday marks the Quakers' first road trip this season, as they make a short trip to Villanova's field hockey field in Conshohocken.  Villanova (2-1) opened its season with a tough 3-1 loss at Fairfield, but quickly bounced back with a 3-2 overtime win over Indiana and an emphatic 7-3 win over Lehigh. Junior forwards Megan Vermeil and Lydia Syndor lead the Wildcats, each tallying seven points and three goals on the season.

Previewing Saint Joseph's
No. 15 Saint Joseph's (3-1) travels to Ellen Vagelos Field on Sunday for its 22nd meeting against the Quakers.

The Hawks started their season strong and fast, with a 5-1 win over Monmouth and a 2-1 win on the road at American. They continued their successes by upsetting No. 9 Delaware 1-0, but were handed their first loss of the season to No. 23 Rutgers last weekend, 3-2.

The Hawks are led by freshman forward Tonya Botherway, who started her college career with three goals in four games.

Previewing Penn
The Quakers enter this weekend with the odds historically stacked in their favor. Penn is 18-14-2 against Villanova and has won the past six meetings between the two teams. Rachel Mirkin, who scored the game-winning goal against Wake Forest, scored her first collegiate goal for Penn in a 6-4 win over Villanova in 2016.

Penn is 14-7 in its games against Saint Joseph's dating back to 1976. The Quakers have won their last three games against the Hawks. The Quakers will hope to get their offense firing in what has historically been a high-scoring affair, with 26 goals scored over the last three games. Since joining Penn, Coach Colleen Fink is 4-1 against her alma mater.

A strong freshman class has had a solid start to the season, with Julia Russo and Maddy Fagan both breaking into the starting lineup and the rest of the freshman group eager to continue to increase their time on the field.
