PHILADELPHIA -- University of Pennsylvania wide receiver
Justin Watson stepped into the spotlight as his Pro Day, and as was often the case during his illustrious Penn career, Watson delivered.
This time it was scouts from over 20 NFL franchises who Watson dazzled, as the All-American laid down numbers that would have been high atop the charts at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
40-yd Dash: 4.42 seconds (Tied For No. 5 At Combine)
Vertical Jump: 40 inches (Tied For No. 1 At Combine)
Broad Jump: 124 inches (Tied For No. 6 At Combine)
Bench Press: 20 reps (Tied For No. 4 At Combine)
20-yd Shuttle: 4.19 seconds (Tied For No. 8 At Combine)
60-yd Shuttle: 11.33 second (No. 5 At Combine)
Three-Cone Drill: 7.00 seconds (No. 19 At Combine)
Watson also made his mark in positional drills, showing an ability to be coached through new routes on the fly while catching every pass thrown his way.
A STATS FCS first-team All-American and AP third-team All-American this season, Watson will graduate as a five-time All-American over the course of his career and the holder of four career Penn Football records and three single-season Penn team records. A three-time unanimous first-team All-Ivy selection, Watson set the Ivy League records for consecutive games with a reception (40), consecutive games with a touchdown catch (10) and career 1,000-yard seasons (3) while representing the Red and Blue.
Â
Watson set a new Penn single-season record with 14 receiving touchdowns in 2017. Almost more impressive was the fact that he had all nine of Penn's receiving touchdowns in Ivy League play – doing damage despite Ivy opponents knowing where the ball was going.
