WEST POINT -- The University of Pennsylvania sprint football team was defeated by Army, 28-6, in a Collegiate Sprint Football League (CSFL) Championship game rematch.
Penn was unable to enact revenge on Army after last year's 10-0 loss in the inaugural CSFLÂ Championship game. The game had it's similarities, however.Â
The game was a defensive showdown between the two teams. The first quarter ended with both teams scoreless and combining for 89 total yards.Â
The Black Knights struck first on the first play of the second quarter, with Keegan West throwing a 9-yard touchdown pass.Â
The Quakers struck back on the next drive.
Eddie Jenkins made his return after missing the past two weeks due to injury and tossed a 64-yard touchdown pass to
Aidan Kelly. Theo Papazekos missed the extra point attempt and Army led 7-6.Â
Both teams failed to get much going on offense after the two scores early in the second quarter, and Army entered halftime up 7-6.
Army extended its lead late in the third quarter after West tossed a 17-yard touchdown pass. This was the first score in a 21-0 second halfÂ
The Quakers' offense had no answers to a strong Army defense, moving the ball 96 yards in the second half. Army continued to improve on offense, with West tossing two more touchdown passes on the way to an Army win.
Penn returns home next week for a matchup against Caldwell on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Franklin Field.Â
