NEWS AND NOTES: BUCKNELL
*Penn takes on the Bison for the first time in 12 seasons (2005) and the 11th time overall in their series history. The Quakers lead the all-time series, 5-2-3, and have come away victorious in the last four meetings dating back to 1997, while outscoring Bucknell 8-1.
*After dropping its first four contests to begin the season, Bucknell captured a 2-1 overtime win on the road at Rider Sunday night. Patriot League Midfielder of the Week Meghan Holtz provided the game-tying goal with under ten minutes to play in regulation, before Brianna Kropinack found the back of the net in the first overtime period to seal the victory.
*While Holtz currently leads the team with five points in the early-going, goalkeeper Dani Kaufman's 6.8 saves per game are tops in the Patriot League entering play this week. Bucknell hosts an unbeaten Tennessee squad Thursday at 5 p.m. prior to arriving at Rhodes Field this weekend.
NEWS AND NOTES: DELAWARE
*Monday marks the 15th all-time meeting between Penn and Delaware, with the Quakes leading the series, 8-6. The Quakers came out on top in last season's meeting on the road in Newark, 2-1, behind first half goals from
Emma Loving and
Emily Sands. Penn last hosted Delaware in the 2011 season, a 2-0 victory.
*The Blue Hens opened the 2017 campaign with four of their first five contests needing overtime to reach a final result. Despite dropping matches to both Villanova and No. 15 Georgetown, Delaware has rebounded to pick up consecutive wins against Marist and Lehigh.
*Hannah Specht tallied a pair of goals in Delaware's 2-1 win over Marist Friday to earn CAA Player of the Week honors, while freshman Riley Dixon's tally in the first overtime period against Lehigh resulted in Rookie of the Week accolades.
PREVIEWING PENN
*The Quakers return home to Rhodes after battling to two draws over the weekend in California.
Kitty Qu made eight saves in Friday night's 0-0 draw at UC Irvine, including two critical stops in the second overtime period, while
Erica Higa's 34th minute goal Sunday at UC Riverside led the Quakers to a 1-1 draw to wrap up the West Coast trip.
*Penn enters play Saturday with an advantage in shots over its opponents through four games, 43-39.
Kelsey Andrews and
Emily Sands currently lead the Quakers with six apiece, while Higa leads the squad with three on goal.
*Qu's 14 saves currently rank fourth among Ivy League goalkeepers, while her 3.50 saves per game also ranks in the top half of the conference.
*Penn is 5-1-2 in eight September home matches at Rhodes Field under Head Coach
Nicole Van Dyke, while also outscoring its opponents 15-4 during that stretch.
