Philadelphia - The University of Pennsylvania men's tennis team began their fall season on Friday as they hosted their home Penn Invitational. Joining the Quakers are University of Denver, Yale, Georgetown, Princeton, Middle Tennessee State University, William and Mary, and Columbia. On day one Penn faced off against the University of Denver and Ivy League rival, Yale and edged out two convincing victories. 

How it Happened

The Quakers started off the day with a strong 8-1 victory over the University of Denver. Nicholai Westergaard bounced back after the first set at number four singles to edge out a 4-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory. Josh Pampan also snuck away in the first set of his match in a tiebreaker to set the tone at number two singles and pull out a straight sets 7-6(4), 6-2 win. 

The Red and Blue finished off the day against rival, Yale winning 7-1. After winning the first set handliy, 6-2, Kyle Mautner fought back from a break down late in the second set to win the match in a tiebreaker, 7-6(2). Playing eight singles matches, the Quakers won each of the seven that they won in straight sets.
