PREVIEWING PENN
*The Quakers seek to continue their winning ways this weekend on the road after capturing a 1-0 win over visiting Delaware Monday.
Erica Higa's goal just 54 seconds into the match proved to be the difference maker in the match, a mark that is now the fifth-fastest score in program history. The senior's goal on Monday was also the quickest since the 2004 season.
*Penn has allowed just two goals over its last four games, resulting in a 1-1-2 record. Keeper
Kitty Qu's two shutouts currently rank second in the Ivy League, while her .505 goals against average is good for third.
*The Quakers continue to out-shoot their opponents through six games this season, averaging 11.2 shots per game compared to their opponents' mark of 9.7. Also of note, Penn's shots on goal percentage (.403) leads that of their opponents (.397) to this point in the campaign.
*Following Monday's win over Delaware, the Quakers improved to 4-3-3 in the month of September under head coach
Nicole Van Dyke. Additionally, Penn has played to a 2-1-3 record in non-conference road matches in the month of September during the Van Dyke era.
*Since Van Dyke's first season in 2015, Penn has won at least two games following the first win of the season - including a four-game win streak last season after dropping the season-opener to Maryland.
NEWS AND NOTES: DREXEL
*Penn makes the trek up 33
rd Street to take on City Six member Drexel for the 12
th time in program history, with the Quakers leading the all-time series, 9-1-1. Despite the successes against the Dragons, the Red and Blue seek their first win at Drexel since 2003 Thursday night. The two squads played to a 0-0 draw last season at Rhodes Field.
*Drexel is coming off a season that saw its first-ever appearance in the CAA title game, and entered 2017 on a high note with wins in two of its first three matches. However, the Dragons are coming off an 0-2 week in a pair of road contests with No. 13 Rutgers and Monmouth.
*Vanessa Kara and Shaelyn McCarty pace Drexel with two goals and four points apiece entering Thursday night, and have accounted for more than half of the offensive output to this point in the season.
NEWS AND NOTES: GEORGE MASON
*Sunday marks the eighth all-time meeting between Penn and George Mason, and first since the 2011 season. Penn holds a slight advantage in the all-time series, 4-3, but the Quakers have not won on the road at GMU since 1998. George Mason's 13 wins a season ago were the fifth-most in program history, while also advancing to the A-10 Tournament semifinals for the second consecutive year.
*The Patriots bounced back from an 0-6 start to the year to pick up their first win over Towson Sunday in double-overtime, 2-1. Erin Mitchell provided the golden goal with three seconds left in the second overtime period to clinch the victory.
*Despite the early struggles, George Mason has played a host of top teams to open the season, including No. 23 Wake Forest, No. 13 Rutgers and Maryland.
