HOW IT HAPPENED
Game One
The Quakers offense struggled early against Yale starting pitcher Scott Politz, recording just two hits in the first five innings against the right-hander. The Bulldogs broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the second, scoring three runs on four hits in the frame capped off by Tim DeGraw's run-scoring single to center.

Yale added to their lead with another three-spot - this time in the bottom of the fifth - to take a 6-0 lead in the late innings. Penn responded with two of its own in the top of the sixth on back-to-back RBI singles from Matt McGeagh and Matt O'Neill in the middle of the lineup to cut the deficit to four, but the Quakers were held hitless in the final frame as the Bulldogs took game one, 6-2.

Mike Reitcheck went five innings for Penn on the mound, and Sean Phelan led the offense with a two-hit performance at the plate in game one.

Game Two
Penn got off to a much better start both on the mound and at the plate in Sunday's game two, as the Quakers held on to a 4-0 lead after six innings. The Quakers struck first in the top of the third when Chris Adams lined a two-out double to left, and later came around to score on Tim Graul's base knock to give the visitors a 1-0 lead.

Penn carried that momentum into the top of the fourth by pushing across three runs on three hits to extend the lead to four. Phelan and O'Neill reached to lead off the frame, and both came around to score on McGeagh's double to right-center. Peter Matt brought in the third run with single back through the middle to score McGeagh before the Bulldogs could get themselves out of the inning.

Starting pitcher Gabe Kleiman put together his best start of 2017 in Sunday's nightcap, throwing six-plus innings of one-run ball while allowing just three hits. After allowing a double in the bottom of the first, the lefty retired 12 straight Yale batters - including three strikeouts. Kleiman's day was done after allowing a leadoff double in the seventh, but handed the ball over to the bullpen in line for his second win of the season.

Yale (14-12, 5-1) tallied its first run of the game in the seventh on an RBI single from Benny Wanger to close the book on Kleiman, as the Quakers controlled a three-run lead with six outs to get. The Bulldogs went on to rally for three two-out runs in the bottom of the eighth - two of which were unearned - to tie the game at four and send the game to extra innings. After Penn went down in order in the top of the tenth, Yale got the go-ahead to second with one out after a single and a walk. Wanger came through yet again for Yale, delivering a walk-off double to left-center to capture a 5-4 win and series sweep.

Adams, Graul and McGeagh all had three-hit games in the nightcap, while McGeagh's two RBIs paced the Penn offense.

WHAT'S NEXT
The Quakers (14-13, 4-4 Ivy) return to action Wednesday on the road in non-conference play at Delaware. First pitch from Bob Hannah Stadium is scheduled for 3 p.m.
