BY THE NUMBERS

*2 - Daniel Halevy's two home run game is the first multi-home run game of his career, and the first since Gary Tesch hit two of Penn's six home runs in last year's game two win over Yale (4/3/2016).

*4 - The Quakers scored all four of their runs in game one via the long ball, and is the most in a game since Penn hit six homers on April 3, 2016 against Yale.

*5 - After his victory in game one Saturday, Jake Cousins has now gone at least six innings in all five of his starts this season, while also allowing no more than two earned runs. Cousins also did not issue a walk in his start for the first time this season, and has won his last three decisions.

*6 - The Quakers hit six home runs in the doubleheader Saturday, falling just one short of tying the mark for the most in an Ivy twin bill in the John Yurkow era (at Yale, 4/3/2016).

*11 - Penn's season-opening streak of 11 straight wins when leading after six innings came to an end in Saturday's game two loss

HOW IT HAPPENED

Game One

Brown took an early lead in Saturday's opener behind consecutive extra-base hits to start the bottom of the first inning, but back-to-back home runs from Matt O'Neill and Daniel Halevy in the top of the second erased the deficit to give the Quakers a 2-1 lead. After a scoreless third inning from both sides, Matt McGeagh lifted his team-leading fourth home run of the season - a solo shot - in the fourth to extend the lead to two.

The Bears (9-11, 3-3 Ivy) made it a one-run game in the bottom of the sixth on Josh Huntley's RBI double to right-center - and advanced to third as the tying run with two outs - but Jake Cousins ended the threat with his sixth strikeout of the day as the Quakers took the lead into the final inning. Daniel Halevy gave Penn the insurance run it needed in the top of the seventh, leading off the frame with his second home run of the game. Halevy is the first Quaker with a multi-home run game since Gary Tesch's two home run performance last season at Yale (4/3/2016).

Cousins put together a perfect frame in the bottom of the seventh to close out the 4-2 win, as he picked up his team-leading fourth win of the season. The senior allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out seven and walking none, marking the sixth straight start Cousins has went at least six innings while allowing no more than two earned runs.

Each Quaker in the lineup recorded at least one hit in the game one win, led by Halevy and O'Neill with two apiece.

Game Two
The Quakers struck quickly in the back end of Saturday's doubleheader, putting up three runs on three hits in the opening frame. After Chris Adams drew a leadoff walk, Tim Graul tripled to deep center to score Adams, and later came around to score the second run of the game on an RBI groundout from Sean Phelan. O'Neill kept the inning alive with a two-out double to right, and Halevy added to his big day at the plate with an opposite-field single to score O'Neill and extend the lead to three.

Following Adam Bleday's perfect opening inning on the mound, Penn continued its offensive barrage as Graul belted his second home run of the season - a two-out, two-run shot to left - to make it a 5-0 lead in the early going. Brown fought back with consecutive RBI singles in the third to make it a 5-2 game, before Huntley's two-out, run-scoring single in the fourth cut the deficit to two.

After Bears put up single tallies in the fifth and sixth to get within one, Rob Henry led off the bottom of the seventh with a solo home run to tie the contest at five. Following a pitching change, Brown tacked on three more runs to take an 8-5 lead, capped off by Cameron Deere's two-run single.

Peter Matt cut into the deficit with his first-career home run - a solo shot to left-center - to lead off the eighth and get the Quakers within two. The Quakers put the pressure on Brown in the bottom of the ninth after O'Neill's single to right loaded the bases with two outs, but Dante Bosnic induced a game-ending ground out as the Bears escaped with an 8-6 win.

Matt McGeagh extended his season-high hit streak to eleven with a ninth-inning single in the defeat.

WHAT'S NEXT
