PHILADELPHIA – A rematch between the two finalists from last year's Ivy League Tournament provided the same result as No. 10 Penn was downed by No. 15 Cornell, 10-4, at Franklin Field in the 2017 Ivy season opener.
The Red and Blue led, 2-0, early but the Big Red controlled the rest of the game – netting six of the next eight goals to close the first half with a 6-4 lead and then holding Penn without a goal in the second half while adding four of its own for the final 10-4 score.
The loss drops Penn to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the Ivy League. The Big Red improve to 2-1 and are 1-0 to start the Ivy campaign.
How it Happened
• Cornell netted the next two goals – one off a free position and the next on the man-up to tie the game at 2-2 midway through the first half.

Gabby Rosenzweig gave Penn back the lead with her first goal at Franklin Field.
• Cornell answered quickly on the ensuing draw and then took its first lead with 11:17 to play in the game off a free position.
• The Big Red's lead became two with a Sarah Phillips goal off a rebound to make it 5-3 Cornell with under nine minutes to play in the first half.
• Amie Dickson scored on the free position for Cornell to make it a 6-3 lead with 5:15 to play in the first half.
• Condon's second of the game was a quick-stick finish of a Rogers-Healon pass at the goalmouth to cut Cornell's lead to 6-4 with just over 3:00 left in the first half.
• The first two goals of the second half went to Cornell in a span of 2:53. Gilbert scored her second of the game 3:33 into the second period and Tomasina Leska followed 6:36 in to give the Big Red an 8-4 lead.
The Quakers are back in action March 7 against Lehigh. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. at Penn Park.
