THANK YOU, SENIORS!
*Saturday's match will be the final one wearing the Red & Blue at Rhodes Field for seniors Estep, Higa, Mason and Miller. The quartet has contributed to a 28-19-16 (.571) record over the last four seasons, including marks of 9-9-9 in Ivy League play and 17-10-7 at Rhodes.
*This year's senior class has not lost to Princeton during their four years in University City, and will look to continue the trend to cap off its legacy within the program.
PREVIEWING PENN
*Despite trailing Princeton in the all-time series, 12-10-4, Penn is 4-1-3 in the last eight meetings and 4-0-1 in the last five at Rhodes between the two sides. Saturday will be the fourth time in program history that Penn will take on a ranked opponent and third at Rhodes Field. The the other three instances came during the 2004 season against No. 5 Texas A&M, No. 22 Villanova and at No.14 California.
*The Quakers are coming off a 1-0 loss in overtime at Brown Saturday, as the Bears escaped with three points following a 94th minute goal. Goalkeeper
Kitty Qu posted a game-high nine saves while
Emily Sands led the offensive attack with four shots.
*The Penn back line has been a strength of the team all season, and enters the final week of play 36th in goals against average (.689) and 17th in save percentage (.861) in all of NCAA Division I. The Quakers have conceded only 11 goals in 15 games this season, three of which were in Ivy play. 12 of Penn's 15 games this season have either resulted in draws, or been decided by one-goal margins.
*Individually, Qu has proven to be one of the toughest to keepers in the nation to score on, ranking eighth in save percentage (.890) and 27th in goals against average (.595) in NCAA Division, figures that mark first and second among Ivy keepers, respectively. Qu has conceded just eight goals this year, and three in conference. As it stands now, Qu's save percentage ranks second among Penn's all-time leaders (.898 - Vanessa Scotto, 2001).
*The 2017 Quakers became the first team in program history since 2007 to defeat Harvard, Dartmouth and Yale all in the same season with a 3-1 win over the visiting Bulldogs on Oct. 21. Penn's win over Yale was also the program's first come-from-behind victory since September 2014, and matched the most goals against the Eli's since 1997.
NEWS & NOTES: PRINCETON
*With a win Saturday, the Tigers would earn at least a share of the Ivy League title with Columbia. Princeton and Columbia are currently tied atop the conference standings with 15 points apiece, but the Lions hold the edge with the head-to-head tiebreaker in their favor.
*Princeton finds itself in the United Soccer Coaches poll for the eighth straight week, due in large part to pacing the Ivies in points (100), goals (35), goals per game (2.33) and fewest goals allowed (six). The Tigers hold a 2-1 record against ranked opponents this season.
*Abby Givens is both the team and conference leader in points (24) and assists (six), while sharing the top spot in goals scored with Courtney O'Brien at nine. Goalkeeper Natalie Grossi's nine shutouts this season are tops in the Ivies, as well.
