PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania continues on with their Ivy League and City 6 schedule this weekend with a pair of away matches. On Friday, the Quakers head to the Big Apple to take on Columbia for a twilight matchup, while Penn makes the short trek to Temple on Sunday for a 2 p.m. start.

NEWS AND NOTES: COLUMBIA
*The Quakers and Lions meet for the 22nd time in series history with Penn holding a slight lead in the all-time matchup, 11-10. The two sides come into the contest with a bit of history: five of the last seven meetings and four of the last five have needed overtime to decide a winner. The Quakers won the 2016 outing by a 4-1 margin at EV Field, breaking a five year losing streak dating back to 2011.
*Senior Maeve Doherty leads the team with nine goals and six assists for 24 points, placing her 15th in the country and first in the Ancient Eight in point production (2.18/game). She also ranks second in defensive saves with six stops on the season.
NEWS AND NOTES: TEMPLE
*Penn wraps up City 6 action with the annual contest against Temple, marking the 39
th meeting between the two sides. The Red and Blue are 2-0 in City 6 games this season with wins against Drexel and Villanova in 2017. Penn has claimed the 2015 and 2016 meetings against the Owls, winning by a combined 5-1 margin.
*With nine defensive saves, the Owls are second in the category amongst their division I counterparts. Rachael Mueller leads the team with six goals and four assists for 16 points, while Maddie Lilliock and Chloe Johnson have split netminder duties and have combined for a 1.47 goals against average and 65% save percentage.

*With their 3-0 win over Dartmouth last weekend, the Quakers recorded a season-high 20 shots and 12 shots on goal. Their 10 points in the contest matched their output vs. Drexel on Sept. 15.
*Sophomore goalkeeper
Ava Rosati got her first career start against Harvard earlier this season and earned her first win with a 3-0 shutout over Dartmouth.
*The NCAA released their fourth RPI standings of the season earlier this week and the Ivy League is well represented as one of the best conferences in the country. The Quakers clock in at No. 25 just behind Princeton (11) and Harvard (19). As a league, the Ancient Eight has the third most teams in the top-25, behind only the ACC and Big Ten.
*Penn has set up one of their toughest schedules in program history for the 2017 slate that includes seven of their 17 matches against teams ranked in the top-25 of the NFHCA Coaches poll. North Carolina (#5), Syracuse (#7), Delaware (#8), Harvard (#13), Princeton (#14), Rutgers (#18), and Iowa (#22) and have all received votes as of the Oct. 10 edition of the rankings.
*Several freshmen have seen significant game action in the beginning of their careers.
Reese Vogel and
Erin Quinn have cracked the starting lineup while six have seen game action through 10 contests.

*The Quakers return nine starters and 15 letterwinners from the 2016 squad and welcome seven freshmen to the roster in 2017. Additionally, three All-Ivy honorees are set to return to the pitch: senior
Alexa Hoover (First Team), junior
Paige Meily (Second Team), and sophomore
Alexa Schneck (Second Team). Hoover and Schneck received NFHCA All-Region accolades while Hoover was also chosen as a Second Team All-American following a year where she became Penn's all-time leader in goals and points.
*Penn announced that a trio of seniors have been selected to captain the squad for the 2017 season:
