The Penn Sports Network, the broadcasting arm of Penn Athletics encompassing radio, television, and on-line/new media, is partnering with 950 ESPN Radio Philadelphia WPEN AM and 88.5 WXPN FM for live, play-by-play radio coverage of the Quakers for the 2007-2008 campaign. In addition to the 28 games these outlets will carry, 12 of the Red and Blue's outings can be seen on TV.
950 ESPN will air 18 regular-season Red and Blue home and road contests on its recently increased 25,000-watt signal, while WXPN will broadcast an additional 10 games. Highlighting the arrangement with WXPN is a “Ivy League Saturday Night” package, making the station the destination for five of the six outings the Quakers play on the back-end of Ancient Eight weekends.
Each radio broadcast (with the exception of 2/12 vs. Princeton) will begin 15 minutes prior to tip-off with a pre-game show, featuring exclusive interviews with the John R. Rockwell Head Coach of Men’s Basketball, Glen Miller, and a member of the opposing team’s coaching staff. Also, all radio broadcasts will stream live and on-demand through the Penn Sports Network at PennAthletics.com.
For the third consecutive campaign, Brian Seltzer C’07 (play-by-play) and Vince Curran W’92, SEAS’92 (analyst) will call the action. The duo's work during the 2006-2007 season earned them a nomination for the 2007 "Best Live Sports Event Coverage" Philadelphia Radio A.I.R. Award.
Vince Curran
Vince Curran W’92, SEAS’92 is in his third season serving as the full time analyst for Men’s Basketball broadcasts on the Penn Sports Network. Curran lettered three times for the Quakers as a center under then-head coaches Tom Schneider and Fran Dunphy. Since his graduation from Penn, Curran has enjoyed a successful career in real estate brokerage & development. He also provides color commentary for numerous television networks, including CSTV, CN8-The Comcast Network, The mtn.-Mountain West Sports Network, and the Atlantic-10 Network, while appearing frequently on Comcast Sports Net’s Daily News Live.
Brian Seltzer
Brian Seltzer C’07 returns for his third season of play-by-play for Men’s Basketball radio broadcasts on the Penn Sports Network. He also anchors PSN’s Football radio pre-game, halftime, and post-game shows. In addition to these roles as Broadcast Assistant for Penn Athletics, Seltzer serves as the Philadelphia Eagles beat reporter for 950 ESPN, with his coverage receiving the Philadelphia Radio A.I.R. Award for “Best Sports Reporting” in 2006 and 2007. He also co-hosts 950 ESPN's Monday Night Football Live program, featuring the Brian Dawkins Show. During the Eagles' off-season, he handles the station's Sports Center news updates for the Mike Missanelli Show. He graduated from Penn this spring with a degree in Political Science, and resides in Philadelphia.
