Women's Lacrosse Runs by Rutgers, 17-7

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team improved to 3-0 in the 2015 season with a dominating 17-7 win at Rutgers.

The Quaker scored early and often, building a 7-1 lead just over midway through the first half. Tory Bensen factored into four of Penn's first seven goals, registering a hat trick before the game was 16 minutes old and adding an assist. She would go on to finish the game with six points on five goals and an assist.

Iris Williamson was equally as dominant in the first half, tying her career high in goals with four in the first half. Williamson would set a new career high with her fifth goal early in the second half.

The Quakers scored the game's first half dozen goals, building a 6-0 lead before the game was 14 minutes old. After Rutgers got on the board, Penn would answer with the next three goals, starting with a goal just 1:01 after the Scarlet Knights first found the back of the net.

By the end of the first half, Penn had built an 11-3 lead, equaling the Red and Blue's total goal output from its two previous games against Rutgers.

In the second half, the Quakers extended their advantage with the first three goals of the final period to build a 14-3 lead. Bensen had the first of the run3:18 into the second half, followed by the first career goal for Emily Rogers-Healion on a free position 5:51 into the second period. Williamson would cap the run with her fifth of the game at the 9:52 mark of the second half.

A pair of Quakers would cap the Red and Blue's scoring with their first goals of the season, Lindsey O'Loughlin scoring with 8:09 to play and Alex Condon scoring her first career goal with 10 seconds remaining.
