PHILADELPHIA--The Penn women's lacrosse team continued its winning ways with a 13-7 win over Boston University, Wednesday afternoon.

The Quaker attack outgunned the Terriers with six different scorers. Leading the charge was junior Emma Spiro who scored a career high four. Penn held a heavy 22-8 advantage on shots in the first half and outshot BU 31-15 in the game. For her part, Terriers goalie Rachel Klein made nine saves in the loss. Penn's Emily Szelest made three saves in her fourth consecutive win.

Giving those goalie a workout was the combined 12 free-position shots in the game. Each team scored on three of those opportunities.

Early on, senior Becca Edwards fed Spiro for the first score of the day after three minutes of action. Edwards waited just 45 secondsto scoreone of her own.AfterBU got on the board, senior Kaitlyn Lombardo scored to take a 3-1 lead. Two quick free position goalstied the score atthree, but Penn netted fourover the next 10 minutesto go ahead again.

Holding a four-goal lead, freshman Erin Brennan cashed in for her first goal of the day with 12 seconds left in the half. She returned from the break and picked up where she left off, scoring again just 1:30 into the second.

The teams traded goals until 8:41 when Sarah Dalton put up BU's last goal and the nets went quiet. Penn was able to hold the ball for a large portion of time and claim its fourth victory of the season.

The Red and Blue open Ivy League play on Saturday, March 14 in the first game of a women's-men's doubleheader with Yale. The women's game is set for noon with the men taking the field at 3 p.m.
