Women's Lacrosse Hosts Midweek Bout with JHU

PHILADELPHIA--The No. 9 Quakers host No. 15 Johns Hopkins Wednesday at Franklin Field and look to continue its five-game winning streak. The first draw is set for 7 p.m.

The Quakers (7-1) will look to continue suffocating their opponent's attack with its nation-leading 6.00 goals-against average. That rank is thanks in part to the nation's leading goalkeeper, Sarah Waxman. She holds a 5.80 GAA and .475 save percentage. In front of her, the Red and Blue defense is just as troubling for the opposition; Tarah Kirnan is among the nation's top-15 in caused turnovers.

That defense will have to battle JHU's 11.00 goals per game average in specifically Sam Schurm's team-leading 17 goals and three others that have scored 10 or moregoals. Brett Bathras has been key in setting up the Blue Jays scoring chances and has contributed 12 assists and scored nine herself to co-lead the team in points (21) with Schurm.

Johns Hopkins (5-4) have also been able to control the game out-drawing its opponents 103-90. Four players have dominated with double-digit draws, but Kadie Stamper leads them with 22 this season.

The Blue Jays have sent four goalkeepers out in nine games this season. Julianne Wisner has clocked the most minutes (300) and starts (6). She holds a 9.19 GAA and .403 save percentage. She holds a 2-3 record this season while Lizzie O'Farrell has been credited with a 3-0 record anda 8.57 GAA.

They will be tested by Penn's attack that has gotten rolling in recent games, scoring 13 against Columbia Saturday and 14 against Penn Statetwo weeks ago. Melissa Lehman leads the Quakers with 22 points behind 16goals. Rachel Manson is right behind with 15 goals and five assists. Ali DeLuca has nine goals of her own while assisting on eight. She hasalso helpedPenn dictate the pace of the gamewinning possession on 22 draws. As a team, the Red and Blue out-draw their opponents 78-63.
