Mert Igci

Mert Igci was named an Assistant Strength & Conditioning coach at Penn in November 2024.
 
This represents a return to Penn for Igci, who worked at Penn in 2022 with the football team as well as helped program sessions for the wrestling, swimming & diving, and soccer teams. He also was responsible for the sailing club’s strength and conditioning program.
 
Igci most recently worked at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y., where he spent nearly two years as the head strength & conditioning coach for the Hawks’ 18 varsity programs. He also did an internship with Temple University, served as the head Olympic lifting and powerlifting coach at Olde City Barbell Club in Philadelphia, and for six years was an assistant performance coach with the Galatasaray Sports Club in Istanbul, Turkey working with the swimming, volleyball and soccer teams.
 
Igci graduated from Marmara University in Istanbul, earning a bachelor's degree in Physical Education & Sports Teacher Education. He is currently working toward a master’s degree in Kinesiology, Strength and Conditioning through Arkansas Tech University.
 
Igci is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) with the NSCA and has certification in CPR/AED from the American Red Cross. He also is certified as a Sport Performance Coach Level 2 by USA Weightlifting, Exos XPS, and Level 1 by CrossFit.
