2018 Penn graduate May Bethea enters his second season as Director of Operations with Penn Wrestling in 2019-20. In his role, Bethea coordinates all travel and logistics needs for the Penn Wrestling program while handling recruiting needs and serving as a liaison with various departments around campus.
Bethea was a three-time NCAA Championships qualifier for the Quakers during his collegiate career, advancing to the Round of 12 at 165 pounds in 2018. A two-time placewinner at the EIWA Championships, Bethea was fourth at 165 in 2018 and sixth at 157 in 2016.
In 2018, Bethea went 12-1 in dual meets and was 5-0 in Ivy duals to earn unanimous first-team All-Ivy honors, giving him two All-Ivy selections during his career. The 2015 Keystone Classic champion at 157 pounds, Bethea was also sixth at Midlands in 2017.
Bethea and his family have a long connection with the Penn Wrestling program. He is one of four Bethea brothers to wrestle at Penn, and was a teammate alongside his older brothers Canaan and Ray in 2014-15.Â
