SPARKILL, N.Y. – The University of Pennsylvania sprint football team will continue their 2026 campaign on the road, traveling up to Sparkill, N.Y. to face the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans on Friday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.

The Penn vs St. Thomas Aquinas Series
*Penn leads the all-time series 3-1 and is sitting on a three-game win streak against the Spartans.
*During the 2025 campaign, the Quakers battled back from an early 14-6 deficit in the first period and took the lead in the third quarter behind a strong defensive effort and a touchdown from Xavier May IV.
*The Red and Blue's defense sealed the win late, with Marcus Butler forcing a fumble and Luke Pajovich recovering with under four minutes left, allowing the Quakers to run out the clock for a 15-14 season-opening victory.

Quaker Notemeal
*Penn struggled to move the ball consistently, finishing with just 180 total yards and 47 rushing yards on 37 carries.
*Josh Johnson made a crucial defensive play to keep the Quakers alive at the end of the third, intercepting Navy quarterback Luke O'Connell in the end zone. The turnover stopped a potential opportunity for the Midshipmen to extend their lead, and gave the Red and Blue a chance to build momentum into the fourth.
*After putting together a 14-play, 80-yard drive, first-year quarterback John Franchini connected with Andy Falletta for a touchdown to deny Navy of a shutout.
*Penn's defense turned in a strong performance, with Hugh Maley and Johnson each recording an interception, marking the third and 10th of their respective careers. Collin Cross led the Quakers with 13 tackles, the second-highest single-game total of his career, while Maley added eight tackles of his own.

Scouting the Spartans
*St. Thomas Aquinas returns Penn returns two 2025 CSFL All-Conference selections, including first-team honoree Trevor Washington as a kick returner and second-team selection Josh Hums on the offensive line. The Spartans also bring back five honorable mentions on defense: Daniel Cruz III, Brandon Jimenez, Armando Medley, Prince Alvarado, and Luigi Biondolillo.
*The Spartans earned their first win of the season and picked up a 20-2 victory over D'Youville in their first CSFL North matchup of the 2026 season, with D'Youville Saints joining the league in 2026.
*Scoring was opened up by St. Thomas Aquinas with a 2-yard rushing touchdown from Damari Hamilton in the second quarter, followed by a 60-yard touchdown pass from Damani Jones Allen to Jayderr Wilhite.
*Jake Kear added a 30-yard touchdown pass to Trevon Washington in the third quarter, helping the Spartans secure a 20-2 victory over the Saints.
