PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania sprint football team opens its 2026 campaign on the road Friday night, against the Navy Midshipmen at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for a 6 p.m. matchup.

The Penn vs Navy Series
*Navy holds a 17-4 advantage, along with a seven-game win streak in the all-time series against Penn.

*Friday's match marks the first collegiate sprint football league (CSFL) game of the 2026 season for both teams.

*During the 2025 campaign, the Quakers fell to the Midshipmen, 36-21.

*With a full slate of new coaches and as his first year as the William R. Wagner head coach, Jon Dupont looks to lead the team into the new season.

*Penn returns six key contributors from the 2025 squad, including First Team All-CSFL selections Josh Johnson and Luke Pajovich.

*Johnson returns for his senior season after earning First Team All-CSFL honors on defense for the second time in his career. During his junior campaign, he led the Quakers in interceptions (4) and pass breakups (3), while recording 21 total tackles.

*Pajovich returns after earning First Team All-CSFL honors on offense for the second consecutive season. He helped anchor a Penn offensive line that allowed only 12 interceptions throughout the 2025 season, while also earning Second Team All-CSFL recognition on defense after recording two sacks for 22 yards and 20 total tackles.

*Wide receiver, Jason Sheairs, ended his junior year ranked sixth in the CSFL, recording 29 catches for 441 yards and four touchdowns. He also ranked third in the league in kickoff returns with 290 yards on 15 attempts.

*The Red and Blue also return several additional contributors, including kicker Ezra Granet, linebacker Colin Cross, and offensive lineman Paul Tjoumakaris.

*Penn will see 9 newcomers that make up the recruiting class of 2030: Jack Badner, Dante Coury, John Franchini, Lucas Jones, Tommy Moro, Silas Munday, Cash Nelson, Gus Papaconstantinou, and Luke Tjoumakaris.

Scouting the Midshipmen
*Navy returns for the 2026 season off a championship success, led by CSFL Offensive Player of the Year and Most Valuable Player, Hunter Gennicks, Special Teams Player of the Year, Jacori Sutton, and First Team All-CSFL offensive lineman, John Dutton.

*Junior running back Hunter Gennicks led the CSFL with 1,188 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns on 171 carries. He averaged 148.5 rushing yards per game and 6.9 yards per carry, while adding 11 receptions for 74 yards and two receiving touchdowns.

*Jacori Sutton, kicker and punter, will comeback after earning CSFL Special Teams Player of the Year honors. Sutton converted 39 of his extra-point attempts and made three field goals, including the game-winning field goal in overtime against Army to secure Navy's CSFL championship.

*Offensive lineman John Dutton returns after earning First Team All-CSFL honors during Navy's championship season.

*The Midshipmen also bring back defensive lineman Mick Tabor and defensive back Tucker Opdahl, who both earned Second Team All-CSFL recognition in 2025.
