PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team will host their first Ivy League matchup against No. 3 Princeton on Friday, before traveling to Towson, Md. on Sunday to face Towson. Friday's game will upport the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) by raising awareness for childhood cancer and supporting Gold in September, a campaign dedicated to bringing attention to childhood cancer.

Penn vs. Princeton
Penn holds a 15-33-3 record against Princeton, with the Tigers earning a 1-0 victory in the teams' 2025 meeting. Friday's matchup will mark both teams' first Ivy League contest of the 2026 season. Penn last defeated Princeton in 2023, earning a double-overtime victory that snapped the Tigers' 17-game winning streak in the series.

Penn vs. Towson 
The Quakers and Tigers will meet for the fourth time in program history on Sunday, Sept. 20, with the teams last facing off in 2021. Towson hosted the first meeting in 2011 and earned the victory, while Penn won both matchups when hosting at Ellen Vagelos field in 2012 and 2021.

Quaker Notemeal
*Penn conquered La Salle in their home opener on Friday with a final score of 7-1 to improve their record to 1-2.

*Reese Czajkowski and Lucy Mangat each found the back of the cage twice and added an assist, finishing with three points apiece. The duo is tied for second in the Ivy League in goals and points.

*Penn managed to generate a strong offensive push, recording 34 shots in the win to the Explorers' 11. Czajkowski led the team with six shots, while Honor Roberts and Riley Thomson each had five. The Quakers are averaging 17.7 shots per game, compared to 15.7 for their opponents.

*Sydney Mandato leads the Red and Blue sits at the top of the Ivy League with six assists, gaining three on Friday. Roberts is also among the conference leaders, sitting tied for third with three assists.

*In goal, Ruby de Frees made 10 saves against La Salle, bringing her season total to 22 saves. Samira Rafide made her collegiate debut in the fourth quarter and recorded a save, contributing to the Ivy League's most recent single-game high for saves.

*Naomi Esterowitz and Maxi Aranowitz each scored their first collegiate goals in the victory.

Scouting the Princeton Tigers
*Princeton enters the weekend sporting a 3-1 record after wins over Penn State and Rutgers. These successes have aided the Tigers in moving up to No.3 in the NFHCA Week 3 poll, after being ranked No. 4 in Week 2.

*The team's defense has held strong early into the season, allowing just one goal in regulation against Penn State on Sunday. Senior goalkeeper Olivia Caponiti recorded three shutouts prior to the matchup with the Nittany Lions to aid the Tigers in securing these victories.

*Pru Lindsey leads the team with four goals, including three goals across a two-game stretch.

*Princeton collectively controlled the offensive pressure over the weekend, outshooting their opponents 22-11.

*Lindsey and Clem Houlden were recognized by the Ivy League for their performances and were named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

Scouting the Towson Tigers 
*Towson enters the weekend with a 2-4 record after losses to No. 5 Maryland and American.

*Ava McConnell leads the Tigers with two goals and four points.

*Anouk Westerink was named Preseason All-CAA heading into the season.

*The Tigers recorded a season-high 16 shots on goal against Rider on Sept. 6.

*Towson will play in their first CAA matchup on Friday against Monmouth before hosting Penn on Sunday.
