PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team collected its third straight win Wednesday night, defeating Jefferson 2-1 at Rhodes Field.
The Quakers (4-3-1, 0-0 Ivy League) jumped out to an early lead and held off a second-half push from the Rams before finding the game-winning goal late in the contest. Seniors Abbey Cook and Mia Fuss provided the scoring for Penn and Cook added an assist.

*Penn finished the night with a 15-5 advantage in shots and held a 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
*Fuss' third goal of the season moved her into sole possession of the team lead in goals. The senior also leads the squad with six points.
*Cook finished with a goal and an assist, marking her first multi-point game of the season.
*Capdevila recorded her second assist of the season on Cook's opening goal.
*Graves made one save and earned her fourth victory of the season.
*Penn continued its undefeated play at home and now sits at 3-0-1 at Rhodes Field.

How It Happened
Penn came out on the front foot, creating several opportunities in the opening minutes before breaking through in the eighth. Capdevila combined with Cook on a give-and-go, and Cook carried the ball into the box before finishing to put the Quakers ahead 1-0.
The Red and Blue continued to apply pressure following the opening goal. A corner kick in the ninth minute led to a chance for Lily White, whose bouncing attempt was saved by Rams goalkeeper Carly Hayman. Cook had another opportunity in the 20th minute after Casey Forman played a ball into the box, but her shot sailed high.
Penn maintained control for much of the opening half and carried its 1-0 lead into the break.
Jefferson came out of halftime with renewed pressure and equalized just 21 seconds into the second half when Kyra Lesko sent home a cross from Jalina Gonzalez.
The Rams continued to push after the equalizer, but the hosts answered with several chances of its own. Camarin Choi forced a diving save from Hayman in the 68th minute, while Kylie Emanuel also registered a strike on frame shortly afterward.
Penn regained the lead in the 79th minute after earning three consecutive corner kicks. Cook collected the ball and found Fuss inside the box who finished with her left foot to put the Quakers back in front 2-1.
Fuss nearly added another moments later when Cook found her at the near post, but the attempt went just wide.
Jefferson generated one final dangerous chance in the 82nd minute, but Graves made a diving save on a shot from Annika Jurik to preserve Penn's advantage. The Quakers' defense held firm over the final minutes to secure the 2-1 victory.
Penn returns to action Saturday at St. John's. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. in Queens, N.Y.
