Bottene Named Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Junior forward Marco Bottene of the University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team was selected as the Ivy League's Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced Monday morning. The attacker has been a key contributor through the Red and Blue's first three matches of the 2026 season.

The Quakers earned their second win of the campaign over the weekend in dramatic fashion and Bottene was their difference maker. Penn trailed to Seton Hall for the majority of the match on Saturday (9/12), but Bottene's second brace in three matches pushed the hosts past the Pirates in the final 10 minutes at Rhodes Field.

Bottene leveled the contest in the 81st minute with a tidy finish assisted by Owen Sullivan, before thrashing home the match winner two minutes later. The Hermosa Beach, Calif. native currently sits on four goals in three matches to top the Ivy League in goals (4) and goals per game (1.33). His goal per game ratio ranks second in the nation, and he places fourth in points per game (2.67).

Before his match-winning performance against the Pirates, Bottene earned Philly Soccer Six Co-Player of the Week laurels a week prior with a brace in just 17 minutes against Monmouth.

Penn returns to Rhodes Field tomorrow night at 6 p.m. as Delaware makes the trip to University City.
