WLAX Takes on Another Ranked Opponent, Traveling to #3 Maryland on Thursday

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's lacrosse team is back in action on Thursday, March 19, heading to #3 Maryland for an 8 p.m. showdown at SECU Stadium.

The Penn vs. Maryland Series
*Though Maryland holds the all-time advantage in the series with a 27-5 record, Penn owns the three-most recent wins in the series.
 
*The Quakers topped the Terps twice in 2025, winning 13-12 at Franklin Field in the regular season before leaving College Park with an 11-10 double-overtime victory in the NCAA Second Round, thanks to the golden goal from Catherine Berkery.
 
*The Terps' latest win in the series dates to the 2023 campaign when Maryland left University City with a 16-12 win.
 
Quaker Notemeal
*Penn split its spring break trip, falling 18-9 to #7 Florida last Wednesday before overcoming #22 Georgetown 11-10 at the USA Lacrosse Headquarters this past Sunday.
 
*Junior Berkery led the charge for Penn, tallying seven points spread between the ranked battles, tying her career-high five goals against the Hoyas.

*Sophomore Lela Greene trailed Berkery with five points on the weekend, scoring Penn's sole hat trick against the Gators.
 
*Goalkeeper Orly Sedransk, stood tall in her cage, stopping 13 shots against the Gators and ten in the win over the Hoyas to post her third-straight double-digit save performance.
 
*Attacker Berkery has been an offensive force through seven games, leading Penn with 22 goals and 27 points.
 
*Keeper Sedransk has been solid in the cage to open the year, stopping 67 shots on the year.
 
*Penn was picked to finish second in the Ivy League in the 2026 preseason poll voted on by the media.
 
*Half of last year's starting lineup will return to the field this season with attacker Berkery, midfielder Lellie King, defenders Maggie BankowskiClare Ruff, and Natasha Yajadda, and goalkeeper Sedransk returning to Franklin Field.
 
*Sophomore Sedransk is pegged to have a strong second year earning Third Team USA Lacrosse and Inside Lacrosse Third Team Preseason All-American as well as a spot on the Tewaaraton Award Watch List.
 
*Junior  Bankowski has been a force in the X for the Red and Blue, winning 39 draw controls on the year.
 
*Freshman midfielder has been making a name for herself on the defensive end of the field, leading the Red and Blue with six caused turnovers on the year.
 
Scouting the Terps
*Maryland brings a strong eight-game win streak into Thursday's clash. The Terps have three ranked wins over #13 Syracuse (9-5), #12 Virginia (17-9), and #14 Princeton (16-12) so far this season.
 
*Lauren LaPointe leads the Terps' offense in goals (28) and points (39) through eight games.
 
*The Quakers will likely face JJ Suriano in the cage. The keeper holds an 8.79 goals-against average, a .564 save percentage, and 88 saves on the season.
