PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania track and field teams wrapped up day two of competition at the Penn Classic on Saturday, with Tiago Socarras shattering the men's 800m school record.
 
Socarras chased down the leader in the final 50m to clock in first with an NCAA 13th best time of 1:46.99. 
 
Ranked first in the Ivy League, Rianna Floyd, Sofia Swindell, Jailyn Milord, Giuliana Ligor took first in the women's 4x400m relay with a time of 3:36.90.
 
In the men's 500m Benjamin Markham led the race clocking in first with a personal-best time of 1:03.33, ranked third in the Ivy League and seventh in program history. Alec Jackson claimed fourth (1:03.79), followed by Nicholas DeVita in fifth (1:03.96). 
 
Giuliana Ligor set a personal-best in the women's 500m crossing the finish line second at 1:13.60.
 
Sara Khiri finished first in the women's mile with a time of 5:03.86. Nicholas Carpenter placed fifth in the men's invitational race clocking in 4:05.60. 
 
L'Mio Edwards recorded a personal-best in the women's 1000m clocking in third at 2:44.17. Maggie McCabe placed fifth with a time of 2:48.42, sixth on the all-time program list. 
 
Kyra Compton clocked a personal-best time of 9:37.37 in the women's 3000m invitational, placing third. 
 
Raghav Gopalakrishnan finished second in the men's 3000m crossing the finish line at 8:21.86. 
 
Aoife Shovlin took third in the women's open event with a time of 10:16.99.
 
Up Next, the Quakers are set to compete at Tiger Paw Invitational in Clemson, S.C. and David Hemery Valentine Invitational in Boston, Mass. on Feb. 13 - 14.
