Cook Tabbed Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week

PHILADELPHIA – Senior forward Abbey Cook of the University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team was named the Ivy League's Offensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday afternoon. The senior played a pivotal role in the Quakers' 2-2 draw with Brown on Saturday, scoring twice for the first multi-goal game of her career.

Cook scored both of Penn's goals against the Bears, finding the back of the net in the 63rd and 76th minutes. Her first goal came after Magali Capdevila and Lily White combined to spring her behind the Brown defense, while she headed home her second goal following a Penn corner kick and a ball kept alive by Avery Chapel.

The two-goal performance pushed the senior into a tie for the team lead with four goals and nine points on the season. She has recorded seven points over Penn's last four matches, playing a season-high 77 minutes against Brown.

Cook currently ranks tied for fourth in the Ivy League with four goals and tied for seventh with 13 shots on goal.

Penn returns to action Saturday, traveling to Princeton for a 7 p.m. matchup with the Tigers.
