#22 Wrestling Heads to F&M Open (Fri), Northern Colorado (Sun) This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA – The nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania wrestling team stays on the road this weekend, heading to the Franklin & Marshall Open on Friday, Jan. 9, starting at 9 a.m., before traveling to Northern Colorado for a dual on Sunday, Jan. 11, at 4 p.m.

The Penn vs. Northern Colorado Series
*The Bears hold the only win in the all-time series, leaving University City with a 22-13 victory in 2024.
 
*Cross Wasilewski (149), Nick Incontrera (174) and John Pardo (285) won their bouts in the Palestra against the Bears to account for Penn's 13 points in the contest. Pardo and Wasilewski's dual wins were the first of their collegiate careers.
 
Quaker Notemeal
*Penn rang in 2026 this past weekend, competing in the Southern Scuffle hosted at Chattanooga for the first time in program history. Eight Quakers earned spots on the podium, with CJ Composto (141) and Caden Bellis (174) leading the charge for Penn at the Scuffle, landing runners-up at their weights.
 
*Evan Mougalian (133), sophomore Wasilewski (149), Jude Swisher (157), and Sean Seefeldt (165) all earned third place.
 
*Liam Carlin earned fifth at 174, and Kelly Dunnigan (149) placed eighth to round out the Quakers on the podium.
 
*The Red and Blue finished their first time at the Scuffle placing second as a squad with 123.5 points, trailing the reigning NCAA National Champion Penn State team which won the tournament with 143.5 points.
 
*The Quakers carry a three-dual streak into Sunday's contest, bringing wins over Campbell (36-6), Hofstra (35-8), and Virginia (24-16) to the Centennial State.
 
*Six Quakers sit in the Intermat and FloWrestling rankings, with senior Composto leading the charge at #6 in the 141 field. #9 Wasilewski (149), #13 Mougalian (133), #13 Swisher (157), #20 Seefeldt (165), and #30 Davis Motyka (125) round out the Red and Blue in the rankings.
 
Scouting the Bears
*UNC also competed at the Southern Scuffle, led by Dominick Serrano claiming the 133 title.
 
*Northern Colorado holds a 2-2 dual record heading into the weekend, holding a two-meet streak off wins over Campbell (34-12) and Cal Baptist (18-16).
 
*Serrano is the only Bear ranked in the Intermat polls, sitting #9 at 133 in the country.
