CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania wrestling team completed the first day of the Southern Scuffle hosted by UT Chattanooga on Saturday in the McKenzie Arena, with three grapplers advancing to the semifinals at their weights.
 
#5 CJ Composto (141), #31 Sean Seefeldt (165), and Caden Bellis (174) led the charge for Penn on the first day, winning their quarterfinal bouts.

*Penn sits in fourth place in the team standings heading into the final day with 69 points.
 
*#13 Evan Mougalian (133), #4 Cross Wasilewski (149), #13 Jude Swisher (157), and Liam Carlin also made the quarterfinals round, but fell to move to the consolation round of eight at their weights.
 
*Kelly Dunnigan (149) and Martin Cosgrove (197) will compete in the round of eight consolations on Sunday
 
*Junior Mougalian pinned NCAA national Champion Eddie Figueroa in 6:57 to help secure his spot in the 133 quarterfinals.
 
How It Happened
Senior Composto went 3-0 on the day, earning his spot in the 141 semifinals off a decision over Cal Baptist's Jesse Vasquez, 3-1. Junior Seefeldt won all four of his matches, shutting Bellarmine's Noah Hall out 5-0 to keep his run going. Freshman Bellis secured the Quakers' final spot in the semifinals off three wins, including a quarterfinal pin in 4:48 over Army's Andrew Christie.
