PHILADELPHIA – Penn Athletics and Recreation announced today that Jerry McConnell, the William R. Wagner Head Coach of Sprint Football, will not return next season. The announcement was made by Alanna Wren, the T. Gibbs Kane, Jr. W'69 Director of Athletics and Recreation.

"We are grateful for Jerry's nearly two decades of service and dedication to our student-athletes in the Penn sprint football program, both as head coach and offensive coordinator," said Wren. "This leadership change is an important step toward elevating the program's competitive success and enhancing the overall experience for our student-athletes. We wish Jerry the very best in his next chapter."

As head coach, McConnell posted a record of 17-18 at Penn.  While serving as the program's offensive coordinator from 2007-19, McConnell helped lead the Quakers to Collegiate Sprint Football League titles in 2010 and 2016, and a CSFL South Division championship in 2017.

A search is underway to identify the next head coach of Penn's sprint football program.
