Women’s Soccer Kicks Off Road Slate at FDU (Thur), Lafayette (Sun)

Mallory Lucas look to keep it going against FDU and Lafayette.
PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania women's soccer team travels for the first time this season to take on the FDU Knights Thursday at 6 p.m. and the Lafayette Leopards Sunday at 4 p.m.

Penn vs. FDU Series
* The Quakers enter Thursday's match against the Knights with an all-time record of 2-0-0.
* The most recent contest between these two teams came in 2022 when Penn defeated FDU 1-0 at Rhodes Field.
*Senior goalkeeper Annabel Austen was in goal for the 2022 matchup, pitching a shutout and securing five saves in the contest. It was her first career collegiate start.
*The only other meeting between these two programs came in 2013, when the Quakers once again took down the Knights 4-0.
* This will be the first road match against FDU for the women's soccer program.
 
Penn vs. Lafayette Series
* The Quakers enter Sunday's match against the Leopards with an all-time record of 8-3-0.
* The most recent match between these two teams came in 2023 when the Red and Blue took down the Leopards 1-0 at Penn Park.
*Senior midfielder Mallory Lucas was responsible for the lone goal in the last match.
* The Quakers have outscored the Leopards 31-16 across the eleven matches played in program history.
*Sunday's match marks a return to Lafayette for Penn head coach Krissy Turner, as she was the head coach of the Leopards from 1996-98. This match will be her first trip to Easton since she took over as Penn's head coach. Turner's only other match against Lafayette as Penn's head coach came in 2023, when the Quakers took down the Leopards 1-0.
 
Quaker Notemeal
* The Quakers are off to their best start since 2021, mirroring that season's record of 2-0-1 through the first three contests of the year.
* The Quakers have shut out all three opponents to begin the season. This has only happened three other times in program history (1998, 2011, 2013).
* Senior goaltender Annabel Austen was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday. This is the fourth time she has earned this honor, as she was named three times last season on the way to first team All-Ivy honors.
* The Quakers' have been a force so far, outshooting opponents 45-16 and outdrawing corner kicks 17-6.
*The 5-0 win over Mount Saint Mary's to open the season marks Penn's best win by goal differential since 2018.
*The Red and Blue have scored six goals thus far, with all coming from six different goal scorers (Abbey Cook, Taylor Ferraro, Mia Fuss, Mallory Lucas, Leigha Matter, and Lauren Stevens).
 
Scouting the Knights
* The Knights enter Thursday's match with a record of 0-3-1. Their most recent contest against Fairfield resulted in a 5-0 defeat.
 
* Three Knights are tied for first in the points department, with freshman midfielders Alexa Castro and Allison Nase and senior midfielder Dominique Liberto all contributing one goal so far.
*Freshman goalkeeper Laia Oller Ramos leads the way with 15 saves on the season.
 
Scouting the Leopards
* The Leopards enter the weekend with a record of 1-2-2. Prior to Sunday's match, the Leopards take on Iona on Wednesday night.
*Their most recent contest resulted in a 7-1 loss at the hands of Texas A&M.
*Everything for the Leopards starts with Katrina Santelli. The senior forward has three goals on eleven shots this season.
*Junior goalkeeper Catherine Apker brings 16 saves and two shutouts to the table so far.
