PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team defeated Dartmouth on Friday at Ellen Vagelos Field, 2-1, winning back-to-back games for the first time this season.
Penn improved to 4-3, now 2-0 at home, while the Big Green fell to 2-4, 0-2 in conference action.

How it Happened
Both team's offenses struggled to find their stride in the first quarter, with the scoreboard reading 0-0 at the end of the opening period.
Julia Ryan ended the scoring drought in the second quarter adding her team-high fifth goal of the season.
Penn led 5-3 in shots at the half and
Ruby de Frees recorded two saves as the scoreboard read 1-0 in favor of the Quakers.
Amelie Leussmann quickly tied things up in the third quarter with Dartmouth's first goal of the game.
However, the Red and Blue came out swinging in the third quarter, as three goals were scored.
Sydney Mandato scored two of the three goals in the third quarter, with the other scored by
Lucy Mangat.
The Big Green added a goal in the fourth quarter, but Penn's tenacity on defense was the difference in the final 15 minutes, coming away with a 4-2 victory.
Mandato was the highlight of the afternoon for Penn, excelling on the field after missing the previous two games due to injury.
Penn secured their fourth win of the season, sitting at 4-3 on the year and winning back-to-back games for the first time this season.
