CARY, N.C. – The University of Pennsylvania's
Esha Velaga lost in the first round of the main singles draw of the ITA All-American Championships on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
Velaga faced Carolina Gomez Alonso from the University of Arkansas in the match. Gomez Alonso won the first set 6-4, Velaga won the second set 6-3, but in the third and final set saw Gomez Alonso come away with the 6-4 victory.
Gomez Alonso advances to the next round to face UNC's Reese Brantmeier.

Velaga will play in a back-draw singles match tomorrow with a chance to qualify for the NCAA Singles Championship if she gets into the final.
