PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania's Esha Velaga has been announced by Philly-SIDA as the Academic All-Area Player of the Year for women's tennis in their annual awards.
 
Velaga was recognized as the top player among a group of seven other athletes from the Philadelphia metropolitan area who had tremendous 2025-26 seasons.
 
She was also named Academic All-Ivy this spring to go along with a First team All-Ivy selection in singles as she now adds another accolade to her outstanding junior season with the Quakers.
 
Velaga is majoring in biology and political science at Penn.
