NEWARK, Del. – The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team took on Syracuse, Villanova, NJIT and host Delaware this weekend in the UD Invite.
 
Liza Tkachenko and Joleen Saw defeated Syracuse's Anastasia Sysoeva and Constance Levivier in their Friday doubles match, 6-4.
 
Maya Urata and Varsha Vedula also secured a doubles win on Saturday against Villanova's Maggie Gehrig and Emi Callahan, 7-5.
 
Tkachenko beat Villanova's Maddie Hills (3-6, 7-6, 10-6) and Vadula defeated Villanova's Miriam Gondorova (6-3, 4-6, 11-9) in their singles matches on Saturday.
 
Saw defeated Delaware's Amelia Gorman in her singles match on Sunday, (7-6, 6-2).
 
Up Next
The team will begin preparation for the Cissie Leary Invitational next weekend from Friday Oct. 3 through Sunday, Oct. 5. Penn will host the event at the Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Centers.
