Men’s Soccer Rounds Out Homestand With Air Force (Sat), Villanova (Tue)

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team rounds out its four-game home swing this week, hosting Air Force on Saturday Sept. 20, before Philly Soccer Six foe Villanova come to Rhodes Field on Tuesday, Sept. 23.

The Penn vs. Air Force Series
*This will be the second time these teams match up in program history.
 
*The last time the Quakers took on the Falcons was during the 2012 season, when Air Force left University City with a 2-1 win.
 
The Penn vs. Villanova Series
*The Red and Blue holds the all-time lead in the series with the Wildcats, carrying a 16-9-6 record into Tuesday's meeting.
 
*These teams met at Villanova last year, ending the battle in a 2-2 draw. Stas Korzeniowski and Owen Sullivan netted Penn's goals in the tie.
 
*The Quakers are looking for their first win in the series since the 2011 campaign.
 
Quaker Notemeal
*Penn opened Philly Soccer 6 action earlier this week, coming from behind to tie Drexel 3-3 at Rhodes Field.
 
*Sophomore Marco Bottene and Michael Howard scored their first collegiate goals in the draw with the Dragons. Both had career-high three-point outings in the matchup.
 
*Patrick Cayelli leads the Quakers' offense in goals (2), assists (3), and points (7). The senior netted a penalty kick against the Dragons and in the season opener against Loyola Maryland.
 
*Goalkeeper David Howard brings a 1.00 goals-against-average and a 0.762 save percentage to Rhodes Field on Saturday night. The senior has stopped 16 of 44 shots faced so far this season.
 
*Penn returns a stacked lineup to the pitch including, 2024 All-Ivy honorees Cayelli, Connor DawsonPhillip Falcon III and Jack-Ryan Jeremiah, along with two other starters in Oliver Pratt and Erickson Sakalosky.
 
*Midfielder Jeremiah is turning heads entering his junior year, earning spots on the United Soccer Coaches (USC) Midfielder to Watch and the Hermann Trophy Watch List. Jeremiah recorded 12 points in 2024, including four goals against William & Mary, Manhattan, and nationally ranked Hofstra, as well as in the Ivy League semifinals against Brown.
 
Scouting the Falcons
*Air Force brings a 1-4-2 record to Philadelphia this weekend, coming off a 1-1 draw South Dakota School of Mines last Sunday.
 
*Marcus Goni and Attila Toth lead the offense with two goals and five points each, while Oliver Becker leads the charge with four assists on the year.
 
*The Quakers will likely face Brody Smith in the box. The keeper holds a 2.00 goals-against-average and a 0.650 save percentage heading into the weekend's contest.
 
Scouting the Wildcats
*The Cats open Big East play on Friday against De Paul before Tuesday's battle in University City. Villanova took on familiar foe Princeton last weekend, with the Tigers blanking the Wildcats 3-0.
 
*Sam Nyenka leads the offense with three goals and six points through six contests.
 
*The Red and Blue will likely face Alex Yagudayev between the pipes on Tuesday. The keeper carries a 1.25 goals-against-average, 0.643 save percentage, and nine saves into the Philly Soccer Six battle.
