PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Pennsylvania field hockey team dropped its first Ivy League matchup of the season to No. 9 Princeton Friday evening in a tightly-contested 1-0 defeat.
The Quakers are now 2-3 on the year, falling to 0-1 to begin Ivy play, while the Tigers are now 3-2, 1-0.

How it Happened
Neither team scored over the course of the first 15 minutes of play, as both offenses were trying to settle into a flow. Both teams exemplified tenacious defense, recording just one shot on goal in the first quarter.
The Quaker offense was aggressive in the second quarter, recording three shots, two from
Philine Klas.
Penn led Princeton 5-2 in shots and 4-2 in penalty corners at the end of the first half.
Both squads headed into the halftime locker room searching desperately for their first goal.
Princeton came out swinging in the second half with four consecutive shots, although none turned into scores. The scoreboard remained untouched heading into the final 15 minutes when Princeton's Beth Yeager finally ended the scoring drought for either team in the opening minutes of the fourth quarter as the Tigers took a 1-0 edge.
That goal was all that was needed to allow Princeton to come out on top.
