PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania sprint football team opens the 2025 campaign on Friday night, hosting Caldwell at Franklin Field for a 7 p.m. matchup.

The Penn vs. Caldwell Series
*The Quakers hold a commanding 5-0 all-time series lead over the Cougars.
*Penn is 2-0 all-time in University City against Caldwell.
*These two teams met in the Garden State last year, with the Red and Blue leaving with a 24-14 win.
Jake Wang caught a 17-yard passing touchdown in the third quarter to lift Penn to victory.
Quaker Notemeal
*The Quakers return three CSFL All-League honorees to the gridiron this year, made up of First Team All-CSFL members
Josh Johnson and
Luke Pajovich, as well as wide receiver Wang who garnered Honorable Mention All-CSFL.
*The offense returns its leading rusher from 2024 in
JT Goodman. The running back racked up a team-high 407 yards on 93 attempts last season. The wide receiver room returns senior Wang and
Andy Falletta, who both caught two touchdown passes.
*Junior Johnson looks to continue his hot start to his special team collegiate career, leading the Red and Blue in punt returns with ten off 107 yards and kickoff returns with seven off 188 yards last season.
*The Red and Blue added some fresh faces to the team this season, with freshmen Charlie Almedia (DB),

Scouting the Cougars
*Caldwell returns three All-CSFL honorees to the field this season, highlighted by the 2024 CSFL Co-Rookie of the Year, Josh Smith. Wide receiver Arjun Petgrave and linebacker Damian Tavares made up the other returning All-League members for the Cougars.
*Quarterback Smith completed 70 of 139 passes on the season for 708 yards and six touchdowns, while also rushing for 446 yards and five touchdowns and recording four receptions for 38 yards. He also served as the Cougars' primary punter, averaging 35.6 yards, including three inside the 20-yard line.
*Petgrave had 31 catches for a CSFL-best 454 yards and five touchdowns, including a five-catch, 106-yard, three touchdown game against Mansfield. He grabbed a career-best nine receptions for 106 yards versus Navy on 11/9.
*Tavares set a school record with 22 tackles against Penn in 2024. He tied for third in the league with 61 tackles.
