How It Happened
Senior Brandt started the ranked battle off strong, scoring not even 50 seconds in to give the Red and Blue an early lead. Five minutes later, the Terps evened the game off a goal from Jordan Lipkin. With 6:54 left of the first, Maryland capitalized off a green card on Penn to take a 2-1 lead. In the final two minutes of the first, Lela Greene was awarded a free position but passed her shot to set up a Smith to Block goal to tie the game at two to end the period.

Maryland got to work early to start the second, as Lexi Dupack and Kori Edmondson netted back-to-back goals within the first two minutes to push the Terps ahead 4-2 with 13 minutes left of the first half. Freshman Sedransk made a huge save off a shot from Lauren LaPointe to keep the deficit at two goals with 8:12 on the clock. A few minutes later, the Terps snuck another one past Sedransk to extend their lead to 5-2 with five minutes remaining in the half.

Penn cut Maryland's run within the final three minutes of the second, as attacker Block scored her second of the outing while Patricia Columbia-Walsh netted a free position shot right after to put the game at 5-4. In the final minute, the Terrapins added another tally to the board, but midfielder Brandt answered with the 200th goal of her career to put the score at 6-5 heading into the break.

Maryland opened the second half, scoring four minutes to bump Penn's hole to two again. The Terps' goalkeeper, JJ Suriano, made a big save off a free position shot from Natasha Gorriaran with 3:51 left of the third. Right as the period expired, the keeper made another save, this time off junior Columbia-Walsh, to hold the game at 7-5.

Senior Block opened the final period of regulation with a point to prove, tallying her seventh hat trick of the season to cut the lead to a goal, but Maryland's LaPointe responded right back to push the score to 8-6 with 11:56 left of the fourth.

Both teams continued to exchange goals as Berkery set up Chung's first of the day, followed quickly by LaPointe's third goal of the day to push the Terps' lead to two goals with less than ten minutes remaining.

A few minutes later, sophomore Berkery tried to muster some more offense for Penn, with her first goal of the day to shorten the hole to one again. A free position attempt allowed Maryland to lengthen its lead again a minute later.

Senior Brandt continued her historic outing, tallying her 63rd goal of the season with 3:44 left to try and keep the Quakers alive. Right as the fourth expired, senior Smith set up Chung for the game-tying goal at ten to force overtime.

Goalkeeper Sedransk opened overtime with a stellar save to keep Maryland's Jordan Lipkin off the board, but the Red and Blue's offense couldn't take advantage to end the first extra period. Luckily, halfway through the second overtime, attacker Berkery went top shelf to push the Quakers ahead 11-10 and secure Penn's spot in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
