PHILADELPHIA— The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team moved to 2-0 in conference play earlier this afternoon with their victory over Dartmouth.
Winning by a final score of 4-1, the Quakers moved to 9-7 this spring and remain undefeated in their Ivy League schedule.
Penn got out to the early lead in the doubles portion of the match, clinching the point with wins from Esha Velaga/Maya Urata and Sasha Motlagh/Gavriella Smith. The Quakers maintained their momentum, picking up three wins in doubles to clinch the match. Eileen Wang and Maya Urata made quick work of their matches, needing only two sets to secure their victories and holding their opponents to four games each across both sets. Gavriella Smith fell to Caroline Lemcke in the first set but rallied back with two dominant sets to win her match and clinch the win for the Red and Blue. With the match clinched, the remaining two matches featuring No. 101 Esha Velaga and No. 67 Sabine Rutlauka were suspended.
