sophomore O'Brien opened the second period scoring with her fifth tally of the season to put the game at four with 11:46 left of the half. Midfielder Brandt slammed her second of the outing past the Terrapins' keeper to give the Quakers' lead at 5-4. Less than three minutes later, both teams exchanged goals to keep the battle within a goal.

The Red and Blue caught a spark as sophomore O'Brien and freshman Sarah Kelley netted back-to-back goals to lengthen the deficit to 8-5 to close the first half.

Maryland opened the second half with a point to prove, scoring a little over a minute into the third to cut the lead to a pair of goals. Luckily, O'Brien netted her second hat trick of the year to create a 9-6 cushion with 10:33 on the board. Both defenses stood tall as the next goal of the third didn't come until the final minute from the Terps to put the hole at two goals. Brandt closed the period with her 30th goal of the season to put the game at 10-7 heading into the final 15 of regulation.
