Women's Tennis Falls to #63 Florida International, 5-2

PHILADELPHIA— The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team fell just short to No. 63 Florida International yesterday afternoon, 5-2.

The Panthers took the first point of the match, winning the doubles point with wins from Valery Gynina/Dana Baidaulet and Katerina Mandelikova/Anja Draskovic.

In the singles portion of the match, Florida International tacked on two more points with individual wins from Aleksandra Simeva and Valery Gynina in two sets each. Gavriella Smith and Maya Urata cut the lead to 3-2 with dominant wins in two sets.

With Esha Velaga and Eileen Wang pushing both of their matches to a third set, the Quakers stayed in the match until the very end. Both falling in the third set, the Panthers secured the win with a final score of 5-2.
