VIERA, Fla. – The University of Pennsylvania women's golf team sits in fourth place after the first day at the Columbia Classic. The two-day, 54-hole event will conclude Sunday on the par-72 course at Duran Golf Club.

The Quakers shot 296 in Saturday's first round and followed up with a 301 in the second round, totaling 597 for the day. That has the Quakers 15 strokes behind tournament leader Illinois State (582), 13 behind second-place Princeton (584), and just three behind third-place Seton Hall (594). Among the other Ivy League teams in the 12-team field, Dartmouth is fifth and the host Lions sit ninth.
Sophomore
Madeleine Zang was Penn's low scorer on Saturday, shooting 1-under-par 71 in the morning and 74 in the afternoon to finish the day at 1-over-par 145. That had her tied for fourth in a field of 71 golfers. Sophomore
Maggie Ni, in the field as an individual, carded 76-73—149 and is tied for 14th.
Senior
Natalie Cao and junior
Julie Shin both shot 74-77 on Saturday and are tied for 21st, while freshman
Claire Lu (77-75) is one shot behind them in 28th and junior
Bridget O'Keefe (79-75) is tied for 38th. Senior
Debby Chang is also in the field as an individual, and finished the day tied for 60th.
Illinois State's Jinyoung Yun is the individual leader heading into Sunday's final round; she shot 4-under-par 140 on Saturday and is two shots ahead of Princeton's Catherine Rao and three ahead of the Tigers' Olivia Duan.
