Women's Golf Sweeps Team, Individual Titles at Prospect Bay

GRASONVILLE, Md. – The University of Pennsylvania women's golf team brought home plenty of hardware on Sunday, winning both the team and individual titles at The Intercollegiate at Prospect Bay. The two-day, 36-hole event was conducted on the par-72 course at Prospect Bay Country Club.

Penn was tied for the team lead heading into Sunday's final round, then shot 296—the best team round of the entire tournament—to finish the weekend at 30-over-par 606. That left the Quakers three strokes ahead of the other Ivy League team in the field, Dartmouth, which shot 297 on Sunday and ended the weekend at 609 (+33). Sacred Heart, which was tied with Penn heading into Sunday, fell off the pace and took third at 621 (+45).

Penn won a team title for the 21st time overall, all but one of those wins coming under current head coach Mark Anderson. Prior to Sunday, the Quakers' most recent titles came in the fall of 2024 at Bucknell and Quinnipiac.

Individually, senior Julie Shin tied Dartmouth's Sophie Thai atop the 71-player leaderboard as both players ended the weekend at 5-over-par 149. However, Shin—who shot the only under-par round by any player in the tournament on Sunday, a 2-under-par 70—was declared the victor by virtue of her birdie on the 18th hole Sunday. It marked Shin's second individual title playing for Penn; she was also medalist at the Dolores Black Falcon Invitational the spring of her sophomore year.

Three other Penn players finished top 10 in the field as sophomore Claire Lu was third (151, +7), freshman Mi Li tied for fourth (153, +9), and senior Bridge O'Keefe tied for eighth (154, +10). All three scored for the Quakers on Sunday. Junior Maggie Ni carded her second 78 in as many days to finish t-12th overall, while Chelsea Nguyen tied for 32nd in rounding out the lineup.

Shin's win was Penn's first individual title since Lu won the Quinnipiac Classic in the fall of 2024, and she is just the third player in program history to win medalist honors at more than one event during her Penn career. The 2024 Quinnipiac event was the last time the Quakers won both the team and individual titles in the same event.

Up Next
Penn is back in action in two weeks, competing in the Rutgers Invitational on April 11-12. The event will be the Quakers' final tuneup before the Ivy League Championship at the end of the month.
