How It Happened
The Quakers won the opening tip, but their first shot attempt fell short of the cup. Yale scored the game's first points with a jumper to go up 2-0.

Mataya Gayle had Penn's first four points of the night to take a 4-2 edge, and Katie Collins scored her first three-pointer to make it a 7-2 game.

Collins' second triple and another great look by Gayle had the Quakers ahead by 10, 16-6, at the under-5 media timeout with 4:10 remaining in the period.

The contest saw Yale go on a 6-0 run out of the timeout to trim the Penn lead down to 19-14 with under two minutes to play. Gayle halted it with her fifth basket of the game to go ahead 21-14.

Penn ended the stanza on a 5-2 push following a layup for Collins and a three-pointer at the buzzer from Saniah Caldwell, giving the Quakers a 26-16 advantage heading into the second quarter.

Collins continued her scorching start with her third three-pointer of the night to extend the Penn lead to 32-19 with 7:25 to play in the half. With that, she had 12 points.

Both teams stayed relatively even for the remainder of the second quarter, Penn taking a 41-30 lead into the locker room at halftime.

The Quakers excelled from the field over that first 20 minutes, shooting 56 percent (14-for-25) from the field and 71.4 percent (5-for-7) from beyond-the-arc.

Collins opened the third quarter the same way she ended the first two with her fourth three-pointer of the night, extending Penn's lead to 46-32.

Yale had the Penn lead trimmed down to 12 points at the under-five media timeout with 3:59 to play. At that point, the Bulldogs had converted four of their last five shot attempts.

Back-to-back baskets from Simone Sawyer—a trey—and a layup for Almqvist upped the Quakers' lead to 17 points at 57-40 with 1:35 remaining in the third frame.

Penn ended the third quarter on a 10-2 run following two foul shots from Almqvist and Sawyer's layup-and-one, leading 62-42 heading into the fourth.

The Quakers opened the fourth quarter on a 6-2 run, leading by 24 points with 7:50 left after an Almqvist three-pointer. From there, Yale scored seven unanswered to trim the deficit to 68-51 with 5:31 remaining.

The Bulldogs never got closer than 17 points the rest of the way with Penn scoring the final three points on free throws for Saniah Caldwell, settling for an 80-60 win.
