#23 Wrestling Closes Out 2025 Action With Wilkes Open (Fri), Virginia (Mon)

PHILADELPHIA – The nationally ranked University of Pennsylvania wrestling team is back in action this weekend, heading to the Wilkes Open on Friday, Dec. 19, before hosting Virginia in The Palestra on Monday, Dec. 22, at 7 p.m.

*Both teams own a pair of wins each in the all-time series.
 
*The Hoos took the latest dual, topping Penn 25-11 in Charlottesville in 2024.
 
*Max GallagherEvan Mougalian, and Nick Incontrera took their bouts against Virginia to account for Penn's points in the meet.

*The Quakers opened December action at the Patriot Open earlier this month, with freshman Lian Carlin (174) leading the charge, off a third-place finish.

*Penn has dominated tournaments so far this season, as Cross Wasilewski won the 149 crown at the Journeymen Classic, and Mougalian (133), Wasilewski, Jude Swisher (157), and Sean Seefeldt (165) earned individual titles at the PRTC Keystone Classic.
 
*Five Quakers sit in the Intermat and FloWrestling rankings, with sophomore Wasilewski leading the charge at #4 in the 149 field. #10 Swisher (157), #14 Mougalian (133), #29 Davis Motyka (125), and #31 Seefeldt (125) round out the Red and Blue in the rankings.
 
*Wasilewski is having a strong start to his sophomore campaign, with his two individual titles and current 10-0 record.
 
*Two-time NCAA All-American, CJ Composto (141), returns to the lineup for Penn against UVA. The senior earned the inaugural 141 Ivy League Championships individual title and fourth place at 141 at the 2025 NCAA Wrestling Championships to highlight his junior year.

*UVA holds a 4-2 record heading into the weekend, stopping at Bucknell on Sunday for a trio of duals.
 
*#23 Keyveon Roller (125), #24 Colton Washleski (157), and #19 Nick Hamilton (174) account for UVA's presence in the rankings.
