PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania swimming and diving programs get right into the thick of Ivy League play, hosting Columbia this weekend at Sheerr Pool.
The women look to improve upon their 2-0 start to the 2025-26 season on Friday night at 5 p.m., while the men get their campaign underway Saturday at noon.

Quaker Notemeal
*The women are 2-0 to begin the year and are coming off a 179-115 victory over Villanova on Wednesday evening.
*
Kayla Fu shattered her second pool record of the week, this time in the 100 freestyle, while
Kate Levensten also broke a pool record in the 100 backstroke.
*Fu and
Anna Moehn each claimed a pair of race wins, while
Sadie Howard swept both the one- and three-meter diving events for the second straight meet as the Quakers earned a total of 13 first-place finishes for the night.
*Fu dominated the sprint events, taking the 50 free in 23.09—just ahead of teammate
Amber Smith (23.77)—and setting a new Sheerr Pool record in the 100 free with a time of 49.80. The previous mark of 49.86 had stood since 1990, set by Brown's Jennifer Boyd.
Amy Qin added a third-place finish in the 100 at 52.44.
*Moehn opened her night with a victory in the 200 free, clocking a 1:51.97, before earning another win in the 500 free at 5:04.20.
Lily Zhang added a third-place showing in the 500 with a time of 5:06.50.
*Howard continued her stellar senior campaign with a career-best 307.28 to win the three-meter dive, while also capturing the one-meter title (271.65). Penn swept the one-meter podium, as
Rachel Yang placed second (269.63) and
Sophie Slayden took third (253.65). Slayden also earned runner-up honors in the three meter with a score of 256.58.
*Levensten led a 1-2-3 Penn sweep in the 100 back with a Sheerr Pool record time of 54.28, narrowly eclipsing Harvard's Anya Mostek's 2024 mark of 54.29. She was followed by
Brianna Cong (55.50) and
Connie Wang (56.22).
*For the second straight meet, Boeckman stood out in the distance events, winning the 1000 free in 10:10.27.
Sydney Bergstrom finished third with a time of 10:22.79.
*Handley claimed first place in the 100 breast with a time of 1:04.26.
*Wang secured the win in the 200 back at 2:01.13, while
Charlotte Holliday took third in 2:11.85.
*Cong won the 100 fly in 55.44, edging out teammates
Maggie Hu (55.61) and Smith (56.55) for a 1-2-3 Quaker finish.
*Penn's 200 medley relay team of Qin, Handley, Smith, and Fu took first place with a time of 1:49.91. The quartet of Levensten,
Katya Eruslanova, Hu, and Cong placed third in 1:45.09.
*The men enter the new year following a seventh-place finish at Ivy League Championships in March.
*
Peter Whittington is the Quakers' only returning All-Ivy recipient after picking up second-team honors at Ivies with a second-place finish in the 400 IM.
*Gone is
Matt Fallon, who graduated in May as a three-time Ivy champion and three-time All-America in the 200 breaststroke.
*
James Curreri (500 free) and
Watson Nguyen (100 breast) each picked up bronze medals at Ivy Championships last season.
*Seven freshmen—
Rohan D'Souza Larson,
Henry Guo,
Jack Handelman,
Aaron Jia,
Pippin Kantakom,
Aiden Rhee, and
Andrew Xie—are set to make their collegiate debuts this weekend, while sophomore
Eddie Jin transfers to Penn following a season at North Carolina.
*Jin competed in seven meets with the Tar Heels during the 2024-25 season, setting career-best times in the 100 free (20.42), 200 free (1:36.31), and 200 back (1:44.29).
*The Lou and Rene Kozloff Head Coach of Swimming
Mike Schnur has a new face on his coaching staff ahead of the 2025-26 season, but is familiar to many swimming fans.
Emma Sticklen—a three-time NCAA champion and NCAA record holder in the 200 fly at Texas—enters her first season with the Quakers as an assistant coach.

*The Columbia women enter the weekend following a 170-130 victory over NYU last Friday.
*The Lions placed sixth at last season's Ivy League Championships.
*Columbia fell to Penn, 164-136, last season in New York City.
*The Columbia men are also opening up their 2025-26 campaign in Philadelphia this weekend. The Lions also placed sixth at Ivy League Championships last year.
