On to Ithaca! Swim Teams Face Cornell, Princeton This Weekend in Ivy Tri-Meet

PHILADELPHIA – For the first time this season, the University of Pennsylvania men's and women's swimming and diving teams hit the road upstate New York to face Ivy League foes Cornell and Princeton this weekend at Teagle Pool. Diving gets underway Friday night at 5 p.m., while swimming begins Saturday at 10 a.m.

The Penn women are 4-0 to start the 2025-26 season following conference wins over Columbia and Brown. It's their second straight 4-0 start to begin a campaign after doing the same last year. The men are coming off a thrilling 157-143 over the Bears at Sheerr Pool last weekend.

Scouting The Big Red
*The Cornell women enter the weekend with an 0-2 overall record following defeats at Dartmouth (161-139) and Harvard (191-108).

*In its last meet, the Big Red dropped both duals, but delivered several strong performances across the lineup with multiple runner-up finishes.

*Cornell opened the meet with a sharp performance in the 200-yard medley relay, where the team of Aly Yokoyama, Audrey Holden, Sadye Derstadt, and Kate Li placed second in 1:42.46, finishing just .06 behind Harvard. The Big Red closed the afternoon with another runner-up relay effort in the 200 freestyle relay, as Rosalee Springer, Ariel Lin, Li, and freshman Isabela Teixeira combined for a 1:33.79 finish.

*Individually, Springer and senior Jungmin Yoon set the tone early in the 200 free, taking second (1:50.61) and third (1:50.40), respectively.

*On the men's side, Cornell is 1-1 after defeating Dartmouth, 158-142, last weekend and falling to Harvard, 215-85.

*Co-captain Pietro Ubertalli headlined the win over the Big Green with a great swim in the 200 free, touching first in 1:36.25.

Scouting The Tigers
*The Princeton women enter the meet ranked No. 25 nationally by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).

*The Tigers are 2-0 following dual meet victories over Dartmouth (228.5-71.5) and Brown (218-82) two weekends ago. Princeton swam against Rutgers last weekend at DeNunzio Pool.

*In the tri-meet with the Big Green and Bears, the women won every event except one, racking up several pool-record times.

*Freshman Chloe Kim, a Glen Rock, N.J. native, opened her collegiate career in impressive fashion with two individual victories—both achieved in pool-record times. An Olympic Trials qualifier and U.S. World Junior Championships team member, Kim captured wins in the 1,000 freestyle and 400 individual medley.

*She wasn't the only first-year to make a statement on opening day. Fellow freshmen Delaney Herr of California and Savannah Skow of Washington also set pool records in their respective events—the 100 back for Herr and the 500 free for Skow. Skow added to her standout debut by also claiming the 200 free.

*The Princeton men are off to a fast start to their 2025-26 season, 3-0 through the first three meets. All three victories have come in Ivy competition, downing Dartmouth (228-72), Brown (219-81) and Columbia (225-75) with runaway results.

*In the dominant W over the Lions at home, the Tigers won 15 of the meet's 16 total events.

*The 200 relay team of Yanning Zhang, Keian Lam, Logan Noguchi and Patrick Dinu set a new Princeton record just one week after setting a new pool record at Dartmouth.

*Aidan Wang set a new record on the 1-meter with a score of 378.45.

*Mitchell Schott carried on with his quest to reset the record boards, breaking his own program record in the 1000 free. Schott touched the wall and put up a time of 8:47.46.
