Wrestling Set to Take on Campbell at Throwdown on the Yorktown on Saturday

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania wrestling team hits the road this weekend, heading to the Throwdown on the Yorktown to take on Campbell on the USS Yorktown CV-10 in Mount Pleasant, S.C.

About Throwdown on the Yorktown
*Held on an active aircraft carrier – the USS Yorktown in Charleston – eight men's wrestling teams and three other women's programs will be on hand for an event that was a smashing success last year.
 
Quaker Notemeal
* The Quakers opened the 2025-26 season at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic on Sunday, led by sophomore Cross Wasilewski who posted a perfect 3-0 performance in the 149 bracket to earn the first hammer award of his career.
 
*Davis Motyka (125), Deven Casey (133), Nathan Taylor (141), Paul Ognissanti (165), Isaias Rodriguez-Jimenez (165), Caden Bellis (174), and Brian Heard (174) won their final matches at their weights to help highlight Penn's performance at Journeymen.
 
*Freshmen Bellis, Liam Carlin, Casey, Heard, Greyson Meak, Motyka, Rodriguez-Jimenez, Wyatt Stout, and Nathan Taylor all made their collegiate debuts at the tournament. 
 
*The Red and Blue return two NCAA qualifiers in Wasilewski (149) and Jude Swisher (157).  At the 2025 Ivy League Championships, Wasilewski won the 149 crown, while Swisher was runner-up at 157.
 
*Junior Swisher and sophomore Wasilewski are ranked in the FloWrestling and Intermat top-15 of their weights, with Wasilewski sitting at #5 at 149 and Swisher at #12 at 157.
 
Scouting the Camels
*Campbell opened dual action last weekend, going 1-2 at the Mason Duals, grabbing its first win of the season off a 28-14 contest with Williams College.
 
*Campbell was picked to finish sixth in the Southern Conference preseason poll, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
