Men’s Soccer Prepares for ILT Semifinals with #2 Cornell on Thursday at Princeton

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania men's soccer team opens the postseason on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 3:30 p.m., taking on second-seeded Cornell in the 2025 Ivy League semifinals hosted at Princeton University.

The Penn vs. Cornell Series
*The Red and Blue own the all-time series with the Big Red, bringing a 64-36-14 record into Thursday's contest.

*Cornell took the regular season matchup this year, scoring two goals in the second half to win 2-1 in University City. Marco Bottene scored the sole Quaker goal in the final minute of action.

*This will be the first time these teams meet in Ivy League tournament history.
 
Quaker Notemeal
*The Red and Blue closed out the regular season last weekend, falling 1-0 to Princeton on Saturday night at Rhodes Field.
 
*Both offenses left it all on the pitch as the Quakers had 14 shots and the Tigers had 13 in the battle.
 
*Connor Dawson (2), Romeo Dahlen (2), sophomore Bottene (1), and Patrick Cayelli (1) all attempted shots on goal against Princeton.
 
*On the defensive end of the field, goalkeeper Phillip Falcon III tied his career-high in saves for the third team this year, stopping six of seven shots faced.
 
*Senior Cayelli is having a dominant senior season, leading Penn and the Ivy League in assists (8), goals (9), shots on goal (25), and points (26).


*Forward Dahlen is having a dominant sophomore campaign, trailing Cayelli in the goals category with six to bring 13 points into Thursday's semifinal.


*Keeper Falcon looks to build off his stellar sophomore season, being named a USC Goalkeeper to Watch during the preseason. Falcon holds a 0.55 goals-against average, 0.867 save percentage, and 39 saves heading into the weekend.
 
Scouting the Big Red
*Cornell earned the second seed in the 2025 Ivy League tournament after going 5-1-1 in conference play this year.
 
*Westin Carnevale leads the offense in goals (6) and points (14) while Giorgos Diakos has a team-high five assists on the year.


*The Quakers will likely face Ryan Friedburg in goal this week. The keeper has 33 saves, a 0.57 goals-against average, and a 0.786 save percentage on the season.
