PHILADELPHIA– The University of Pennsylvania women's tennis team will host the ITA Northeast Regional Championships this week at the Hamlin and Hecht Tennis Centers.
The event will begin Thursday, Oct. 9 and go until Tuesday, Oct. 14.
The Quakers that will be competing in singles on Thursday will be
Varsha Vedula,
Joleen Saw,
Sasha Motlagh,
Liza Tkachenko and
Sarah Wang.
Tkachenko and Motlagh, Urata and Saw, and
Esha Velaga and
Lara Stojanovski will pair up for doubles matches on Friday at 9 a.m.
Participating teams:
Drexel, Columbia, Long Island, Fairleigh Dickinson, Rutgers, Saint Francis, Wagner, Stony Brook, Penn State, Lehigh, Saint John's, Mercyhurst, Fordham, Seton Hall, NJIT, Princeton, Delaware, Temple, Hofstra, Rider, and Villanova.

*Penn hosted the 28th annual Cissie Leary Invitational last weekend. Five Quakers won their singles matches on Friday, including
Maya Urata,
Liza Tkachenko,
Joleen Saw,
Sarah Wang and
Varsha Vedula. Wang and Vedula also won their doubles match against Cornell on Friday. Saw won her singles match on Saturday against William and Mary, and three pairs of Quakers won in doubles on Saturday, including Urata/Saw, Tkachenko/Motlagh and Wang/Velaga. Wang followed up with a singles win against Maryland on Sunday.
